Academic Texts:

Jaspert, Nikolas. The Crusades. 1st ed. New York: Routledge, 2006. Print.
I will be using this book to research the violent time of world history that was also related to religion, and the spreading of one's own brand of retribution and "justice".

Wiseman, D. J.. Peoples of Old Testament Times,. Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1973. Print.
This book will be very useful, as it details much about the people who were involved in the Old Testament, and who lived through the "eye for an eye" period of the Bible.

Bewer, Julius August. The Literature Of The Old Testament In Its Historical Development (1922). New York: Kessinger Publishing, Llc, 2010. Print.
This book will also help me understand and compare many more events that occured in the Old Testament, with a major focus on God`s role as a wrathful God.

Academic Articles:

This is Charles Bronson`s obituary, which pays tribute to his violent characters, who often use brutal means to acheive a somewhat respectable moral.

Dumsday, Travis. "On Cheering Charles Bronson: The Ethics of Vigilantism." The Southern Journal of Philosophy, 1 Apr. 2009: 49 - 67. Print.

Hanson, P. D. "God and Earthly Power." Interpretation v. 64 no. 3 (July 2010)p. 310-11. Print.
This article is important as it talks about God`s relationship with man throughout the Bible. The Old Testament idea of God as a punishing authority is the main idea of my website.

Mellish, Kevin. "Understanding Old Testament Ethics: Approaches and Explorations – John Barton." Religious Studies Review Oct. 2006: 253. Print.
This is a review about a Theological book that explores the idea of ethics and morality in the violence of the Old Testament, much like Charles Bronson`s vow to protect the innocent population from the criminal underworld by any means necessary.

Cook, Stanley A. "Old Testament Literature." Jewish Quarterly Review Oct. 2004: 151- 158. Print.
This article is important because it is a brief overview of several themes I will be researching for my project.
